Grade 9

•Focus on building a strong foundation in core subjects

•Get involved in clubs, sports, or community service to discover interests

•Establish good study habits and time management skills

•Meet with a school counselor to discuss academic goals

•Continue excelling in coursework and consider honors classes

•Begin exploring potential career paths and college majors online

•Consider taking a practice PSAT

•Attend college fairs or information sessions

•Take challenging courses to demonstrate academic skill

•Prepare for and take PSAT

•Research college and/or trade schools and create a preliminary list

•Plan to take the SAT / ACT, consider test prep classes

•Seek out summer programs or internships related to your interest

•Finalize college choices and think about whether you want to live on or off campus

•Request letters of recommendation from teachers

•Complete college applications, essays, and FAFSA. Early if possible!
